Bechdel Test- Burlesque

Ali Rose (Christina Aguilera) who is a waitress in Iowa is sick of her boss being rude and one day up and quits and move to L.A. spontaneously. She auditions for multiple dancing jobs and fails at all of them and end up at a club after getting rejected there also as a waitress. After learning all of the dance moves while working she gets hired by the head manager, Tess (Cher) as a dancer and singer for the club. She ends up crashing with a guy that she meets, Jack, but gets kicked out because there is too much drama. Tess finds out that she can't afford the club and someone is going to take it away from here if she can't start paying for the rent. Ali and Tess team up and get the club back and Ali and Jack come around and become a little more than friends.
I believe that this movie past the Bechdel test. The two women in this movie were Christina Aguliera who plays Ali Rose and Cher who plays Tess. Christina becomes a dancer at Tess' club so they don't even start off talking about boys at all. They talk a lot about the club and the dancers. Christina does talk to boys but never really talks about them with anyone else. Tess is kind of like a mother figure to Christina so she takes on the roll of being a authority and pushes her because she knows what she is capable of. Christina gets involved with Jack and Marcus but that isn't what the movie is revolved around necessarily.
I wouldn't say that this movie is feminist because it kind of portrays the classic women stereotype. The women in this film are dancers or owners of the club and the men play mainly jobs or are kind of girly. There are not really any parts to this film that are feminist. They don't have women making it completely on their own without a man or without needing or wanting a man there for them.
