I chose to do my photo assignment
on weight loss. Media is always showing
women who are super thin with the perfect body.
They make it seem like everyone has to be thin to look good and feel
good. I think that’s false. Everyone is perfect the way they are. You don’t have to be a size 0 to have
confidence in yourself and others should like you for the way you are.
I have two older sisters. All my life I grew with them always talking
about how they want to lose weight because they always thought they were
fat. By the time my oldest sister went
to college, she started taking Adderall.
Yes, Adderall helps you study but she honestly just used it to lose
weight. She started out the same weight
as me and is now 20-30lbs less. She is
at an unhealthy size.
By growing up with my sisters
always talking about losing weight, I always felt like I had to lose weight or
eat healthy or workout just so that I could fit in with them. I always thought since I was the youngest that
I should be the smallest. I, however, do
not care about my weight as much anymore.
If they want to be unhealthy skinny so they feel good about themselves
then so be it, but I don’t think it is healthy for anyone to be so small and
think they are fine.
I wish the media would show more women at
healthier weights and bigger sizes so that people, like my sisters, don’t feel
the need to lose weight. Everyone is
perfect the way they are. You do not
have to be a size 0!! It is unhealthy and unnecessary!
