We Are The World -Janelle Brown

We Are the World

Unfortunately around the United States we are seeing many unarmed black men being shot without a lot of proper justice being served after these sad tragedies. As this is not a problem in which we solely look towards a solution within the black community, we need to take it upon ourselves and take accountability as it should affect all people. Here shown is a picture of my roommates and I as we represent all different ethnicities. As I have many diverse friends, I often make jokes such as "We are the world" as we all exhibit diverse backgrounds. These photos show the intersectionality in which we all exhibit and it's important because it shows how we as people of color have emerged within a society that depicts minorities to be of lower importance. From personal experience, getting to know a variety of people has always been so enlightening as I get to learn and share experiences many may miss out on. I feel that if we all began to challenge ourselves and get out of our comfort zone, we would then break down many stereotypes our culture has engraved within us, as we would get to know others on an interpersonal level.
