White Privilege
White privilege is often something people don't even realize they have and do not realize how much it influences our culture. Some examples of privileges are being white, being male, class, education, cisgender, heterosexual, Christian, and more. These privileges govern our lives in so many ways. For example, being white, they will not get stopped going through airport security, they will not be stopped by police for no reason, and they will feel normal or welcome in public areas and places.
These are advantages that people have that they are just given or born with. The quote, "If you don't have to think about it, it's a privilege," is a good way of showing this because a white male will not second guess that why he did not get a job was not because of his gender or his race. The picture above shows how education is a privilege. Education is often something that someone who is white does not even second guess; they just know that they will be able to go to school, which is why it's a privilege.
White privilege is represented in our culture every day in many different ways that most people with privilege do not even notice. Someone with these privileges can go about their daily life without question or doubt from anyone. These stereotypes and ideas originate from our history. The only way that they are going to stop is if people stop misinterpreting and misunderstanding people based on their race, religions, class, etc. because these things do not determine who someone is and they should not govern our culture like they do now.
